Quantum Leap... or something like that

Ok so... i have a new sled to add to the collection. this makes it... 7... i think. lucky number. thats good. anywho... Mike Viertel sold me his Klein Quantum road frame and i built it up to a set of Bontrager Race X Lite wheels that I built up out of warranty parts. In total i have spent $100. it pays to be extremely patient and of course to have access to things most people dont :).  Shes a great looking ride and shes a blast to ride. I took her out for her inaugural ride on the St. Pete Bike Club morning ride this morning. Group rides are fun, untill you get dropped like a bad habit by old people. ouch. anyway. here shes is.

2 weeks left!!!

Ok... so im 2 weeks away from one of the biggest adventures of my life. Im signed up for of one the most extreme off road cycling adventures in the country; The Pisgah Mountain Bike Adventure Race. 13 Hours of racing, riding, climbing, and surviving the Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina. 13 hours of me and my teamie Ron, our single speed bikes, and everything we need for the day strapped to our backs. There will be no support, so we have to prepare our meals, obtain water, and race to at least 4 of 7 check points, with up to 70 miles of trails, and 15,000 feet of climbing. Im totally psyched, and ill have to admit a bit nervous. Ive got the Karate Monkey preped with a shiny new 22 tooth cog and a new chain. I havent had the chance to ride her off road in a while but ive gotten prenty of on-road training. As far as stress goes i think im well equipped. the mountains are calling me. I hope im ready.

Tampa Bike Coop bike night.

I know this is late in coming but im a busy fool. the house is a week from being done and soon i move in so... welll... heres the other story; i went to Bike Night, the grand opening of sorts for the Tampa Bike Coop, where people get together and work on bikes... a whole lot more than that went on as well, some riding, some beer, and a lot of vegan burritos. I brought the tools and a repair stand and worked on a few peoples bikes and generally had a good time. Bike nights will be held every first monday night at Transitions Art Gallery just behind Skate Park of Tampa. the fun begins around 7pm.

update on bullets frame. . . this thing is bling. green machine by Skunkworks.

Sometimes its best NOT to use your head.

Dallas hit his head pretty hard the other day riding his fixie around the USF campus in Tampa. He said he was only doing about 5mph and cant explain why he fell... i imagine its hard to remember. He cracked his skull and had brain surgery putting screws in his head to hold the fractured skull together. He wasnt wearing a helmet. He's got a nasty scar where hair used to be... scars are tough... but getting them like this is risky. he could be dead. hes very lucky. wear your helmets people.

I hope to see you out riding soon Dallas, with your helmet on.
