Weekend of Riding

Lots of riding... I did a road ride and a mtb ride this weekend. Saturday after work I left from the house towards the Friendship Trail Bridge on a Salsa Cycles Primero I borrowed from the shop, i did a couple laps back and forth on the bridge and then headed from there out to Weedon Island Preserve. I love the feel of steel between my legs, that Salsa is a great bike, and much faster than the Trucker(shes been real jelous lately) The Scenery out there is beautiful. Its less than a 15 minute ride from my house and its a great place to go and see Florida as it always was. A Fantastic ride. And well worth my Saturday afternoon.

Sunday morning I went with my buddy Ian out to Loyce Harpe Park in Lakeland, FL. I took the Karate Monkey. I was a bit nervous that I was out of shape, especially since most of the guys we were riding with were on geared bikes. We rode with some members of the Ridge Riders, and my buddy Jeff showed up as well. The weather was hot but the trails were in great shape. It was easily the best ride i've had out at these trails. Typically renaming a trail is bad luck but since Carter Road Park was renamed Loyce Harpe Park its been good luck for me. The trails were in great shape and the ride was smooth. There was only a few climbs I didnt make and not a single downhill missed with out my wanting to. Though Ian took a pretty scary fall off the downhill on the first finger. I regret that I forgot my camera on Sunday. I regret even more that I missed riding with Caleb. I did get a short ride in today with Caleb around the complex. He always loves the sidewalk rides around the lake in our complex. And I love to watch him ride.

Phil Wood Fix

San Antonio

WAY too early this last saturday morning Rebecca and I went out to San Antonio to ride in the hills. It was a fun ride. I brought my camera but the batteries died so i didnt get any cool pics. im sad about that. It was the first time I have ridden a road bike in the hills, and I must say it was fantastic... the climbing was fun and the downhills were super fast. It also helped that I borrowed a Lemond Etape from the shop, a much lighter bike than the Long Haul Trucker. I felt bad to be on another bike while i was out. She must have been thinking about me back at the house while I was off galavanting on some other bike. I feel bad. Well it was a fun ride.
This weekend Im thinking of riding out at the friendship trail bridge with Caleb. I need a trial run for my new pannier set so we may ride out from the house, so if yer out there and see a bike loaded to the gills with a 5 year old close in tow thats most likely us. So ill see ya on the trails.

Note to self: Carry extra batteries for camera.
